About St Hughs Music and Worship Academy

Our Music and Worship Academy provides music tuition opportunities after school on Wednesdays and on weekends during school term times. Founded in 2021 and opening its doors in January 2022, just under 40 students, between the ages of 8 and 72 years, come to us every week to learn a variety of instruments. Most of our students attend from the Lewsey area of Luton, in which we serve as a church. Our aim is to remove barriers to learning music by providing low-cost music lessons to the community, instilling confidence, resilience and improving the mental and spiritual wellbeing of all our students.

We provide two programmes: Community Music and Worship Music.
Our Community Music programme has a Pop and Rock theme and our Worship Music programme has a Christian music theme. In both programmes, the focus is on learning how to play instruments.

Summer Music and Performing Arts Programme

Following a successful funding campaign, we are now looking to extend our teaching and scale up in our activities in 2023, with a Summer Music and Performing Arts Programme. The Summer programme will run for a week in August providing instrumental lessons as well as Dance and Drama. 

Role Description

This is a critical, yet exciting time for the Academy, as we continue to grow at an exponential rate. As a Music Tutor,  you will play a crucial role within the Academy, helping us to expand on the lessons we provide and drive forward our Mission to resource the community with affordable music lessons.

You will be supported in the post by the Academy Leadership Team.

If you are a Worship Leader or Musician who is passionate about music, would love to teach(or learn how to), can spare 2-4 hours a week and might like to top up your earnings, we’d love to hear from you.

We are hiring Tutors for the following instruments:

• Guitar

• Keyboard

• Voice

• Bass

• Drums

Key Skills Required

• Committed to Christian Values

• Passionate and Enthusiastic about Music

• At least 3 years experience in your instrument

• Willing to teach small groups (Training Provided)

• Able to work with different age groups (8 and over)

• Can work on own initiative

• Good communication skills

• Willing to actively promote the St Hugh’s Music and Worship Academy

• Available Weds 4.30 - 6.30pm, Fridays 4.30-5.30pm and /or Saturdays 10-12am
