Most of what we do here at St Hugh’s and in our community is run or supported by volunteers! They are so important to us and we are so thankful for all the time and energy they pour in. We simply couldn’t run our Children’s Church or youthwork without volunteers.

If you would like to volunteer with our children’s and youth teams, please contact Our Children’s and Families Worker who will get in touch and talk to you about what group you might like to work in. If you would be volunteering with children, young people (or adults at risk) then we would need you to complete a DBS check and safeguarding training before starting. See our safeguarding page for more information.

VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT FORM

SUNDAYS:

The Children’s Church groups are:

0-5 years

There are creche facilities available. There is a zoom link to the service and toys for the children. Please note parents need to stay with their children.

5-11 years

Our children’s church group is held in hall after we have finished singing. In this group we will play games, learn more about the bible and God, as well as explore our faith in age specific smaller groups.

11-16 years

Youth is held in one of our meeting rooms off the hall. In this group we explore life and faith together in a way that’s fun and relevant to young people.

Teenagers in year 11 and beyond stay in the main service and are invited to come to our fortnightly youth group to meet and explore their faith together.

New?

New children and young people are very welcome in our groups! All our groups are run by DBS checked volunteers. We take your children’s safety seriously and you will need to fill out a registration form before you leave your child for the first time (including any medical information we may need to know). If your child has a special need or disability please speak to the Children and Families Worker so we can plan how to meet your child/teenagers needs.

in the week

After School Club

St Hugh’s After School Club is a safe, fun and relaxed environment for young people aged 10-16 years to drop in and hang-out after school.

Join us on Thursday afternoons, during term time, from 3:15pm - 5:30pm to build new friendships, try some new games & sports and explore things spiritually. We have a café serving hot chocolate, waffles, crisps and sweets and we have several activity stations for you to choose from including pool, table tennis, chess, boxing and more.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Youth Group

We run a weekly youth group for young people aged 11-18 years to gather together and grow deeper in their faith and in friendship with each other. During the session we play games, share food, have fun and enjoy meaningful conversations together.

This is held every Thursday during term time from 7pm - 9pm.

Luton Unite @ Youthscape

Luton Unite is a cross-church partnership project that brings young people from different churches together once a month to worship God and have fun together, and is held on the first Friday of every month. You can find more information about Luton Unite and Youthscape HERE
